Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is on a rebound. Tourist arrivals are steadily growing, but there’s the question nobody wants to talk about: where is the professional talent to sustain this growth?

Eco Team believes in not just asking the hard questions, but also being part of the solution. For the second consecutive year, the group – spanning Inbound Tourism (Experiential Journeys & Encounters Asia), Accommodations (Mahoora Safari Camps, Big Game Safari Camps, Ahaspokuna Glamping), and MICE (Beyond Boundaries Global) – has partnered with Edith Cowan University (ECU) Sri Lanka Campus on their Professional Engagement and Planning Programme.

Through this initiative, students complete an industry project that accounts for 50% of their final marks, spanning five weeks of full-time, hands-on work. They engage with real-world business case studies drawn directly from Eco Team’s operations, covering themes such as: Growth strategy, Marketing and internationalisation, Funding and finance & People and culture.

The sheer diversity of Eco Team’s niche tourism verticals allows ECU to provide students with up to 10 case studies per batch, spanning Inbound Tourism, MICE, Wildlife Accommodations, Excursions, and more..
